Marine sized Scout Sergeants

For all those people like me, that hate the fact that the Sergeant of a scout squad (in my case wolf scouts) is the same size the the scouts themselves, then give this a look over:

Space Wolf Grey Hunter stands with Wolf Scout.

You'll need:
Scout torso legs and head.
A small amount of greenstuff (GS).
The 'small' round gate from the Scout frame (Black circle).
Scrap plastic about 1mm thick.

Step 1. Cut out a small square (or round) of 1mm plastic and glue this to the legs. Don't make it too big, as it may get in the way when you GS later. At the same time, don't make it too small as this supports the torso. Once you done that, glue the torso to the legs. Make sure its centered properly!

Step 2. Once the glue has dried (I didnt wait, but Meh,) make a sausage of GS and fill the gaps, smoothing it out and form the shape of the front of the armour. I have little skill with GS, so its not hard at all.

Step 3. Cut a small (about .5mm - 1mm) sliver from the gate of the scout frame. This will form the scouts neck. You'll need to flatted the bottom of the scouts head as well as enlarge the area where the head fits on the torso. Glue the neck then the head in place.

And thats it. Add arms and details and Bobs your fathers brother. The only noticable problem is a lower 'belt' then I would like, but thats a small trade off I think.

Space Wolves Test model

Thought I'd better post up the model showing how my Space Wolves will finally turn out. Least thats the plan. In typical fasion, I forgot to make a note of some of the colours mixes I used, but thankfully the main armour itself is easy to remember. Airbrushed Codex grey basecoat, Badab Black wash in the recesses with Fortress Grey Highlights. My main aim was to produce an acceptable (Thats acceptable in my eyes) tabletop standard that wasn't as complex to do like my Ultramarines and Imperial Fists.

At the time of taking this picture, I had run out of Codex Grey, So I was unable to fix up a few areas. A few areas need slight adjustments, such as the eyes, but other then these few small things, the Model is exactly the way I want the army to look.

I already have a Grey Hunters Squad all basecoated ready to go. The wifes taking a week of work next week, and thats when I'll hit the brushes to get the squad finished while she works on her Orks.

I also have to remember to remind myself to get some more black spray paint so I can undercoat then basecoat the rest of the army...

The Wolves as they now stand...

Well, here are the WIP shots of some of the elements of the army, as well as a lazy army shot. Some of you have already seen these, but I'll post them anyway. I don't have any other close ups of the army as of yet, but you'll get to see them as I Paint each unit. I really need to get a better camera, as the one I have doesn't seem to like taking group pictures, but hey I've been saying that for years now. Maybe one day.

Enjoy!

The end of an era, but with new beginnings...

Well its been a long long time since I made a blog, as I had the benefit of being a member of a most excellent 40K forum known as The Eternity Gate.

Sadly, due to a fall of membership, the powers to be have made the call to close the Gates. A big shout out to all the members of the gate, past and present. You all will be greatly missed!

However, I hope to continue my 40K journey with this blog, and here I will make my new home.

For those that don't know me, here is a brief summery.

The wife and I have been in the hobby for about seven years, though the last year and a half or so we both went into a bit of a dry spell so to speak. Over those years I've played Ultramarines, Space Wolves, Imperial Fists and Dark Angels. I also have a guard army that is largely unbuilt and still in the cupboard.

I'm a great starter of armies, but find it hard to finish them. This year (Whats remaining of it anyway), I'm hoping to turn that around. I've currently built a new Space Wolves Army which is at the 1000 points stage and awaiting to be painted. The wife is playing Orks, so we hope for some closely fought battles.

Anyway, thats enough about me. I'll be posting up the Space Wolves next to show where I'm at with things currently.

Cheers.
